Calumet put on an event this evening at their flagship store in London mainly aimed at Photography Assistants. They had representatives from Hasselblad and Profoto and had two Coloramas set up with a bunch of different lighting kit together with tethered H3DII Hasselblads and a pair of Belly Dancers as subjects. Yep, you read right. Belly Dancers!! Was a good chance for everyone to play with some super nice equipment and also for me to corner the UK Profoto Manager and ask him a load of questions.
They also ran a competition inviting attendees to submit their ‘best’ photo (see my post from last week) and after a few hundred (apparently) people submitted, my shot got shortlisted with 19 others to be printed, and hung in their gallery. Hurrah! The overall winner (not me) walked away with £1,000 worth of rental which is a great prize. His portrait was well deserving. It was a stunning shot. I was just happy to have been shortlisted. Couldn’t let the opportunity pass without taking a shot. Big thanks to the hugely talented Andras, my Uni buddy for taking the reins and snapping this one off for me. Not sure why I am tickling my own chin, but there you have it! Was a good night though and it’s inspired me to enter a few more competitions. You gotta be in it to win it!
